LHS VARSITY GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY--STATE CHAMPS!
Congratulations to the LHS Varsity Girls Cross Country team for winning the VHSL Class 2A Cross Country State Championship on Saturday, November 11, at Green Hill Park in Salem. This is Liberty's first state XC win in school history. Three of our runners also made the All State team. Great work, Minutemen!
ACCOLADES FOR THE LHS PERFORMING ARTS ONE ACT TEAM
Congratulations to the LHS Performing Arts One Act Team for their recent awards and recognitions!
In October, students attended the Virginia Theater Association conference in Richmond where they were able to learn, perform, audition, and interact with over 800 theatre students from 36 Virginia high schools. While at the conference, Liberty High School's One Act Team and "Masterpiece" received a number of honors:
*VTA 1st Place Playwright - Zachary Davis for "Rags to Riches" dinner theatre
*VTA All-Star Cast Members - Zachary Davis and Heleigh Maguire-Hernandez
*VTA Special Judges Award for Outstanding Stage Pictures - "Masterpiece"
*VTA Honorable Mention - In the top 6 (out of 16 schools) for theatre room
*Plus, 55 college callbacks and scholarships for our seven LHS seniors - Zachary Davis, Whitney Crowell, Kai Wood, Asher Aldaco, Malcolm Prosser, Allison Blumenfeld, and Heleigh Maguire-Hernandez
In early November, the LHS One Act Team had great success at the VHSL district competition:
*VHSL Section 2C 1st place - "Masterpiece"
*Best Actors - Heleigh Maguire-Hernandez and Zachary Davis
LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL'S TEACHER OF THE YEAR IS MRS. JEANNE WILLIS!

Congratulations to Mrs. Jeanne Willis who was recently named Liberty High School's 2025 Teacher of the Year!
Mrs. Willis was nominated for this award by numerous colleagues who noted her enthusiasm for helping her students connect to the subject matter, her willingness to go out of her way to serve others, her strong school spirit, and the positive role model she provides for everyone.

LHS TEACHER RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF BEDFORD'S BEST
Congratulations to Liberty High School's Taylor Cafro who was recognized as one of Bedford's Best on October 25, 2023. The Bedford's Best program allows Bedford County Public Schools to recognize their staff members who go above and beyond to make a difference.
Ms. Cafro teaches Health & PE and was nominated for the Bedford's Best award because of her genuine care for students, hard work, participation in numerous activities, and overall great attitude.
Way to go, Ms. Cafro!
