Congratulations to Ashley Stage, a LHS junior, who just won first place for Central Virginia Regional Science Fair in Animal Sciences on Saturday March 7th, 2020! She will move on to the State level which will be held in April.
Her project was the effect of age and gender on metabolic rate of Drosophila Melanogaster.
Mrs. Shayna Crews is our Liberty Teacher of the Year!
Mrs. Crews teaches theatre and dance at Liberty High School. She serves on the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team and is the sponsor for the National Honor Society For Dance Arts (NHSDA). This marks her eighth year of teaching in secondary education. Before she started teaching at Liberty, no theatre or dance program existed. She has taught her students to develop and grow a culture and appreciation fo
r the arts, while instilling a sense of humanity in our school and community. She is constantly looking for new ways to educate, create, and inspire our students because the art form is always evolving.
Ms. Regina Carter is our Liberty ESP (Education Support Personnel) of the Year!
Mrs. Carter has been at LHS for 19 years as a work-based instruction coach. She takes students into the community and helps them become job-ready for the future. We are proud to have her at LHS!
Congratulations to our Key Club for being named the Most Improved Key Club in the Capital District, which includes Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington DC. Zain Odat (middle) was named the Outstanding Key Club President and Bethany Duncan (far left) was named the Outstanding Key Club Treasurer for the entire district! The district is made up of over 250 high schools, so this is a great honor. And specials thanks to Ms. Ogilvie for being a great club adviser!
Congratulations to senior Genevieve Menard who placed 2nd at Radford University's Southwest VA Art Show. Her acrylic painting "depicted society weighing down women."
