Miss Jessica Nash (R), LHS Teacher of the Year

On February 15, 2022, Miss Jessica Nash was named LHS Teacher of the Year. In their nomination forms, Miss Nash's colleagues noted her polite manner, her willingness to always go above and beyond for her students and coworkers, her tireless efforts to be her very best for her students, and her outstanding Liberty Pride.  Thanks for all you do for LHS, Miss Nash!

Mrs. Susan Tomlin (L), LHS Support Staff Person of the Year

On February 18, 2022, Mrs. Susan Tomlin was named LHS Support Staff Person of the Year.  In their nomination forms, Mrs. Tomlin's colleagues noted that she is kind and positive and has a smile for everyone she meets.  They said she is always approachable and ready to help out and that she has a can-do attitude with the ability to multitask without getting flustered.  Thanks for all you do for LHS, Mrs. Tomlin!

Congratulations to Marisa Parikh on her 1st place finish at the VHSL Class 3 State Forensics Championship held at Clover Hill High School on Saturday, March 26.

Barbershop Quartet Entertains LHS Students for National FCCLA Week On Tuesday, February 15, the High Cotton Barbershop Quartet serenaded students during lunch. Their visit was arranged by Mrs. Kimberly Bolling, FCCLA advisor, as part of the National FCCLA Week celebration. LHS Scholastic Bowl Team Heading to Regionals!
After dominating the Seminole District 3C Championship on Friday, January 21, 2022, the LHS Scholastic Bowl team will head to Brookville High School on Saturday, February 5, for the Region 3C Scholastic Bowl Championship. Competition will begin at 10:00 am. Keep up the great work, Minutemen!

Congratulations to Mr. Matt Uselton, Virginia's Region 5 Teacher of the Year!

On Tuesday, October 4, 2021, Liberty High School's own Matt Uselton was named Virginia's Region 5 Teacher of the Year. Region 5 is made up of 13 counties and includes cities such as Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Lexington, and Lynchburg.

Earlier in 2021, Mr. Uselton was named LHS Teacher of the Year and Bedford County Public Schools' Teacher of the Year. As Virginia's Region 5 Teacher of the Year, he is now competing
 against the seven other regional winners for Virginia Teacher of the Year. That decision will be announced by Governor Ralph Northam on Thursday, October 14.

  • Meet Liberty: LHS's New Mascot!

    New Liberty High School Mascot

 Liberty High School's brand-new mascot, Liberty, was revealed at the "Meet the Minutemen" event on     Friday, August 13, 2021.  We welcome Liberty to the LHS family and look forward to him bringing his   energy and spirit to LHS events throughout the year!

  • The 44th annual Central Virginia Regional Science Fair was held on March 6-8, 2021 in a virtual fair. The 75 students participating represented high schools from Amherst County, Appomattox County, Bedford County, Campbell County, Lynchburg City Public Schools and one private school.  The fair is an affiliate of the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair. Two regional finalists will represent Central VA at the Regeneron’s Virtual International Science and Engineering Fair in May.  The 2021 Grand Corporate Sponsor is Framatome Inc. Lynchburg, VA. Eighteen students were nominated to represent the regional fair at the Virginia State Science & Engineering Fair to be held  virtually April 10 hosted by Virginia Tech.

  • Mr. UseltonCongratulations to Mr. Matt Uselton who is the 2021 Liberty High School Teacher of the Year!  Mr. Uselton teaches English, AP Literature, and AP Seminar.  Mr. Uselton also coaches tennis and golf and helps out with theater and band.  He is a true Renaissance Man!  Mr. Usleton is also one of the BCPS Top 3 Teachers of the Year!  #MinutemenSucceedNoExceptions
