Dr. Shawn Trosper, Principal

Dr. Shawn Trosper

Dr. Trosper has been employed by Bedford County Schools since 2006.  He began his teaching career at Liberty High School and remained there for 7 years while also coaching baseball and basketball. In 2008, he received Virginia’s Economic Educator Award. In 2009, he was the Economic Educator of the Year for the region. In 2012, he was hired as the Assistant Principal at Staunton River Middle School and served in that position for four years. He previously served as the administrative representative for the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) committee and received the Leadership Award for personal excellence displayed with the PBIS program for the 2013-2014 school year. He was the principal at Moneta Elementary from 2016 to 2018.  

In April 2018, Dr. Trosper became the first-ever principal of Liberty Middle School as they opened the new school in August 2018.  Dr. Trosper began as principal at Liberty High School on July 1, 2019.  He is excited to begin his second year as principal at Liberty High School and looks forward to the challenges and opportunities that await during the 2020-2021 school year,. 

Dr. Trosper earned his Bachelor of Science degree in social sciences from Liberty University in 2006. He earned his Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Liberty University in 2010. He earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Virginia Tech University in 2017.  His dissertation was called, “Safe School Building Characteristics in Virginia’s Elementary Schools: Architect and Principal Perspectives.”  He also has served as an Instructor of Educational Leadership at Liberty University, teaching Advanced School Law.
