Bedford County Public Schools will be closed through the end of the 2019-2020 school year, as ordered by Governor Northam.
  • The Easter Eggstra Event, provided by Bedford Community Christmas Station, was originally intended to serve families with children.  Given the impact of COVID 19, we have decided to make it available to any low-income resident of Bedford County.  Anyone wishing to receive a food box for Easter can register by April 2nd at 5:00 pm by calling 540.492.0382 or sending an email to lhughes934@aol.com.  Applicants need to leave their name, address, phone number, and email address.  If there are any children in the home, we need the name, gender, and age of each child.  Box pick-up will be April 9th by appointment only.  Applicants will need to bring photo ID, proof of income, and insurance card for each child.
  • The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) has developed a parent resource on how to talk about this important health topic with your child. The CDC provides daily updates and health-related guidance in regards to COVID-19 if further information is needed for your family.

  • Beginning Tuesday, March 24, you can meet a bus or other vehicle making lunch and breakfast deliveries to elementary bus stops in your area. Please be 10 minutes early to the stop. Route schedules with estimated times are posted on the BCPS webpage at bedford.sharpschool.net under Division News.  Meals are for children age 18 and younger, and remember that a child must be present to receive a meal.  Distribution sites and schedules may be modified in the future based on participation and other factors.
  • Governor Northam extended the school closure in all Virginia schools through the end of the 2019-20 school year in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic. I realize how upsetting this news is to our learners, their families, and our entire community, as we all attempt to process exactly what this may mean for public education and life in general in Bedford County for the foreseeable future. In the days ahead we expect to receive guidance from our state department of education about how this closure will impact us during the next several months, and we will make sure to share that information with you as it becomes available.  This state guidance should include how we should interpret the academic standing of our current students, especially for those who are expecting to graduate in May 2020. Please continue to look for updates on our BCPS website as we share new information and follow all health and safety guidelines published by government officials. - Dr. Schuch, BCPS Superintendent

Prevent Chronic Absences

  • All students who request to leave the classroom should have a pass. They can have either a student agenda or a colored bathroom pass located in each classroom.  Teachers are encouraged to keep students in their class so valuable instructional time is not lost.  They are expected to use professional judgment in determining if the student’s request to leave is valid or if they can wait.  Students who wish to see an administrator or counselor in a non-emergency situation should complete the Counselor Request Form or the Administrator Request Form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScNeJAANrG51eElEVYVNctq9K0HuMSd10eB2ux8xZS5UPDDLg/viewform?usp=sf_link).  They can drop it off in the main office or ask their teacher to give to the proper individual.
